Face Your Fears (of Liver and Onions)

Every once in a while, we must face our fears.

As a little child, I was always quite bothered by Liver. Mom made me eat it. If I didn’t eat it, she’d refridgerate it and it would be on my plate the next day.

I was a VERY stubborn boy

Tonight I decided to face my fear, to let it pass through me… (well, quite literally!) and I ordered liver and onions at my favourite pub…

YUM!… I wouldn’t order it all the time, but it was quite tastey… I guess I’m over it now! 🙂

  1. Penny, they wouldn’t even let you douse those potatoes in something else? Wow… I could never understand parents forcing their kids to eat “all the food on their plate” or especially leftovers that tasted nasty. Just because the parents like a certain food doesn’t mean the kids will. Heck, if my family was having veal patties or rueben (sp?) sanditches, I’d go cook up some ramen noodles or something else on my own. My family knew what everyone liked and didn’t like, and I’m glad they didn’t force feed that stuff to me. Ah the joys of food.

  2. Your liver and onions is my “left over mashed potatoes”.
and you had it made if you got the left overs the next day! I got to sit all nite at the table, staring at the mound of the dreaded stuff, until I gagged every bit down.

see my mom made them great the first time around, but whenever she heated them, she managed to burn them..tasted nasty..AND I wasn’t allowed to drown them in ketchup either…

hey maybe there IS something theraputic to this blog stuff…I think I need one..
